Sa Balagbag Falls - Real, Quezon

Having fun at Tignoan Beach isn't the only thing we planned to do in Real, Quezon. Aside from the surf-friendly beach, the river's cool fresh water and their delicious seafood, the town prides itself with its numerous scenic waterfalls. So we decided to check out and visit one.

The most popular among all the waterfalls in Real is the Balagbag Falls. If someone ask a local tricycle driver to take them to a waterfalls, the driver will definitely take them to Balagbag Falls. It is also a popular destination of several motorcycle riders club in the Philippines. So from the campsite that we're in, we rode a tricycle and head on to this majestic waterfalls.

Balagbag Falls
From Manila, we went to Real, Quezon by riding a public van. You can check out the details on how to get there through my post about Tignoan Beach.

So from The PaRK where we stayed, we rode a tricycle that passed through Tignoan Bridge then turned left to Real-Mauban Road (It would be at the right side before the bridge if you're coming from Famy). And as we take a full speed ahead, We enjoyed the fresh air and the nice view. Towering mountains on our right and the boundless blue sea on our left, our eyes feast on the lovely view of the road.

Right after we passed a small bridge, we noticed the huge signage of the Balagbag Falls, that is where the tricycle driver dropped us off. As we look around the area, we noticed that public transportation might be a problem going back to the PaRK so we asked the tricycle driver to fetch us up on a concerted time.

Beside a walkway is a small sari-sari store where we paid 20 pesos as a registration fee. The people here seems nice. We greeted them with a smile as we took a short walk along the unpaved trail until we reached Balagbag Falls.

Our group continued to follow the rocky trail as we passed by some cottages which can be rented for 300 pesos. And there it is, the awesome Balagbag Falls.

A huge two tier falls surrounded by large rocks and tall trees, the magnificent view of Balagbag Falls definitely is a picture-perfect scenery. The sound of the flowing water and the chirping birds plus the smell of fresh air makes you want to stay in that place forever. The lower layer of the falls has approximately eight to ten feet deep base. We tried climbing up to the upper lever through the rocks at the left side of the falls.

We enjoyed jumping off of the top of the fifteen foot high falls down to its deep plunge pool. It really is a very exciting experience. If you will try to jump off from the top of the falls, be sure to locate the spot where there is a huge rock underwater. Jumping down to that spot might be dangerous.

The upper level of Balagbag Falls is way taller than the lower level. The flow of water in this level is different from the lower level. We were fascinated by the view of the falls along with the huge rock formations and the green forest that surrounds its beauty. The water flows gracefully from the top as it run down to the cascading rocks beneath. The soothing sound of flowing water entice me to go nearer.

Each one of us tried climbing up the falls from the rock formations along the side. We felt like being massaged by the strong flow of fresh cold water as we stood along its path towards the stream.

After two hours of fun and excitement, we decided to leave. I was impressed by the serenity and cleanliness of the surroundings as I look around the place to bid goodbye. I think the locals or the people in charge of the place did a nice job in keeping the surroundings clean. I hope they can maintain the cleanliness most specially during peak season. Being in a beautiful place like Balagbag falls doesn't mean we need to spend a lot of money. I may say that I've been to paradise for only twenty pesos.
