Sa Nonok Falls - Real, Quezon

Our adventure in Real, Quezon is truly amazing. We had a great experience in Tignoan Beach and we also enjoyed our visit at the majestic Balagbag Falls. And since we have a lot of time left to spend, we decided to go to another exciting adventure spot. This time, it's in Nonok waterfalls.

I've never heard of this place before and I've just seen some photos of it from the internet. It looks promising.  So we brought our towels and spare clothes along with our excitement and head on to these favorable falls.

Nonok Falls
One can reach Real, Quezon by public van or bus from Legarda, Manila. A more detailed information about how to get there can be read on my post about Tignoan Beach.

From the PaRK where we stayed, We rode a tricycle going to Nonok Falls. From Famy-Real Road, we turned to Real-Mauban Road just beside Tignoan Bridge. From there, we passed by Balagbag Falls. The road gets bumpy and dusty as we go further. During rainy season when the roads are muddy, tricycle drivers refuse to go to Nonok Falls because they are having a hard time passing through these roads.

We were dropped off to a sari-sari store next to the trail going to the falls. A person from the store collected 20 pesos per head as an entrance fee.
The stream along the way
We took a short walk along the trail by the side of the stream. We can hear the strong sound of flowing water as we get nearer and nearer. Then we reached Nonok falls in no time.

Open huts can be seen along the stream but I'm not sure if it can be used for free or if it is for rent. Comfort rooms are not available within the area. Some people are already enjoying their time on the place when we get there.

I am really surprised when I first saw this waterfalls. It is way more beautiful than the one I saw from the internet. I gazed upon the marvelous rock formation that surrounds the strong flow of waterfalls, all shaded by the tall trees nearby. The cold fresh water from the swimming area looks deep too. It is truly a hidden paradise.

We climbed up on top of the waterfalls from the rocks at the side. Once you're up, the only way down is to jump off to the swimming area. I don't know its exact height but from the looks of it, I think its 20 to 25 feet high. Jumping off this high really pumped up my adrenalin. It is one of the amazing things that I've done in my life!

Everyone on our group really enjoyed our stay in Nonok falls even if it is only for a couple of hours. Non-swimmers also loved bathing on the shallow part of the swimming area. We are all delighted on its cold fresh water.

I've seen few litters left behind by some irresponsible visitors. Good thing the locals managed to clean it up from time to time.

Nonok Falls is also less crowded compared to Balagbag Falls maybe because it is less popular to the tourist or because of its secluded location. Anyway, heavily crowded or not, I wish they can maintain its serenity and cleanliness.
