Sa Camp John Hay - Baguio City, Benguet

Day one of our Baguio escapade has passed. It was filled with heavy traffic, long walk and failed itineraries. But the bubbly Panagbenga Fastival Dance Parade and the fascinating Mines View Park are the highlights of that day. More fun and excitement awaits us as our last day in Baguio City begins.

We got up earlier this time so we've found a much better spot for the Float Parade. Taho and other snacks and beverages are being sold by vendors walking by. And as the time pass by, the excitement at the surroundings amplifies. Even if it started a little late than expected, it is worth the wait.

The parade started with the performances of the marching bands in their fancy costumes. The song Gangnam Style was heard in almost every band that performed.

I was impressed on the designs of the floats made mostly out of flowers. Some celebrities can be seen on top of the floats. All in all, I enjoyed watching the parade.

After the parade came a huge wave of people walking across the street. You wouldn't want to be separated with your friends at this time.

The parade aftermath
Our next stop is Camp John Hay. But first, we acknowledged the crumbling of our tummies so we went food tripping at the Filling Station.

After a very delightful lunch, we head on to the Eco-trail. It is a forest trail inside Camp John Hay where pine trees dominates the place. We enjoyed the fresh air, cold winds and the green scenery along the trail.

There are some outdoor activities available in the area such as wall climbing and paint ball. You can also see different kinds of butterfly at their butterfly sanctuary.

After our stroll in and out of the Eco-trail, we then visited the other "must-see" places around the area. We went to the historical core to which the Bell House and the Cemetery of Negativism is located. At that time, the admission at the historical core is for free.

Bell House
We took pictures inside the cozy Bell House. Afterwards, we went inside the Cemetery of Negativism also known as the Lost Cemetery.

The Cemetery of Negativism

People come here to visit not their departed loved ones but the negative traits buried here. I was entertained by the humor on every writings on the grave although their meanings are surely mind bugling.
Totem Pole
The Tree-top Adventure looks promising but then we ran out of time. So we just did the last thing on our itinerary. Shopping.

After a 30 minute taxi ride from Camp John Hay, we arrived at the Public Market.

Inside Baguio Public Market
Prices of fruits and vegetables here are way too low than in Manila.

Never leave Baguio without buying strawberries
After our shopping spree at the market, we went straight to our place for a quick rest then packed our bags.

It is really a convenience for us that we've booked ourselves tickets going back to Manila. At the bus station, the same scenario occurred just like when we were at the bus station in Manila.

Aside from consuming our time, transportation is one of the fallback we had when it comes to expenses. Rather than commuting going to each place from time to time, I suggest renting a cab for the whole day or better yet use your own vehicle.

Tam-awan Village, the Botanical Garden and the Lion's Head are some of the attractions that I really want to go to but sadly missed it because we never had the luxury of time.

We also missed the opportunity to went strawberry-picking at La Trinidad's Strawberry Farm.

All in all, it was a fun experience. A Manila-like adventure site at the top of the mountains. Modernization really is a main ingredient of progress but I just hope it won't affect the environment's natural beauty and help to improve it instead.
